The Record Since 1994
Casino Windsor opened in May 1994 as Ontario's first casino, working out of a temporary location. The permanent resort on the riverfront opened on July 29, 1998. It faces the Detroit skyline, near the Canadian end of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.
A $400 million expansion was completed in June 2008. The work added a convention centre, a 5,000-seat entertainment centre and a 27-storey hotel tower. On June 19, 2008, the resort was relaunched as Caesars Windsor. That tower now carries the name Augustus Tower.
The current arrangement dates from March 3, 2026. Since then, Caesars Entertainment has operated Caesars Windsor on behalf of OLG under a 20-year operating agreement. It also leases the land and buildings from OLG, again for 20 years.
Caesars Windsor has about 1,800 employees. The casino floor they staff is open 24/7.
